Ivan E. Hines, 75, of Weidman died Monday, February 20, 2006 at home surrounded by his family. His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father John Cotter officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Church on Wednesday from 1-5 and 6-9 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hepatitis C Association, 1351 Cooper Rd., Scotch Plains, NJ 07076. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Lux Funeral Home. Ivan was born Feb. 2, 1931 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Robert and Minnie (Goodenough) Hines. He married Donna Ley on Sept. 6, 1952 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and retired from the City of Mt. Pleasant in 1993. Ivan was most comfortable in his home and rarely left Isabella County. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking his neighbors and especially, his children and grandchildren. He would pick fruits and vegetables and deliver them to family members and neighbors. When he wasnt in the mood to clean his fish, the neighbors received them, too. Ivan was a great family man. As his parents aged and needed more care, Ivan remodeled his garage and the attached woodshed for them as their home. He checked on them morning and night and on numerous occasions would take them to doctor appointments. Ivan is survived by his wife, Donna; six children, Roxann (Doug Lowery) Reed of Beal City, Jeff (Battina) Hines of North Carolina, Brad (Judy Bell) Hines of Mt. Pleasant, Marty (Jan) Hines of Mt. Pleasant Rochelle Judd of Sugar Land, TX, and Rob (Sue) Hines of Weidman; 19 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Eloise (Bob) Hogg of Remus; one brother-in-law, Gene Flachs of Remus; one sister-in-law, Lois Hines of Barryton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bud; sister, Flossie Flachs; and a nephew, Johnny Hogg.
