Jack Alan Card, 77, passed away April 24, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Jack was born in Pontiac, Michigan on September 15, 1946, to Sylvia (Neubecker) and Bernard Card. They relocated to Rose City, Michigan where Jack grew up and graduated from Rose City High School in 1965 Jack joined the Marine Corps in 1966 and served as a Corporal in Da Nang, Vietnam during the Vietnam war for thirteen months and thirteen days.
In 1980 he relocated to Gaylord, Michigan and started his own commercial/industrial construction company North Central Construction Inc. (NCCI) which he operated until his retirement in 2008. He was also a Member/Owner of JRJ Investments, Buddy Investments, and Card & Card Investments. These companies developed commercial, industrial, and retail building rentals in Michigan and Ohio. Jack also developed Card Commercial Park in Livingston Township to promote commercial business joining the Gaylord Community.
Jack served on the following committees: President of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Gaylord Industrial Development Corporation, Bagley Township Board of Review.
Jack was a member the Gaylord Elks and Eagles, Rose City JCs, and Lions Club, Safari Club. International Mid-Michigan Chapter. His travels took him to Africa, Alaska, Costa Rica, Brazil, Mexico, and South America.
Jack was a devoted husband, very proud father and papa, brother, and a great friend to many. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan, never losing hope for a winning season. Jack was a successful builder but also enjoyed golfing, a good euchre game, being outdoors and many hunting adventures with family and friends. Jack will be remembered for the way he made a room fill with laughter and made everyone feel welcome. His presence will always be missed, but never forgotten.
Jack is survived by his wife of 33 years Kimberely Card, daughter, Betsy Smith (Glen); son, Andrew Card and his girlfriend, Nicole Thompson; grandchildren, Bryana, Reese, and Savannah Wollney; brothers, Roger (Margo) Card, James (Jan) Card;, and many nieces and nephews. Jack was proceeded in death by his father, Bernard Card; mother, Sylvia Card; sister, Carol Weston; and brother, Kim Card.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home) at 12 pm, with Jeremy Card officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Program. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
