James Chaney, 44, of Weidman passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at his residence. His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jim was born July 6, 1967, in Detroit, son of James H. and Sharon K. (Gruesbeck) Chaney. A graduate of Beal City High School in 1985, Jim loved working as a mason. He enjoyed bow hunting and running his prize dogs. Jim is survived by his father, James H. Chaney of Mt. Pleasant; mother, Sharon Chaney of Kalkaska; fiance, Nicole Jupin of Weidman and her children, Levi and Nicolis; maternal grandmother Marjorie Hicks of Kalkaska; and step-brother, Jeff Convery of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James O. and Marie Chaney; and maternal grandfather, Lynn Gruesbeck.
