James J. Endres, 80, of Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005 at Tendercare in Mt. Pleasant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wed., Oct. 5, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Beal City. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. There will be a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging or to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Jim was born May 13, 1925, in Beal City, the son of John and Helena (Hoffman) Endres. He married Elizabeth Block on May 4, 1946 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. He attended Beal City High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served during World War II as a Motor Machinist Mate and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for Coca-Cola Beverage Co., retiring after 40 years as a sales rep. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3033 and the American Legion Post 110. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Parish where he had served as an usher. Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty of Mt. Pleasant; five children, Daniel Endres of Weidman, Roxanne Gruss of Mt. Pleasant, Debra (David) Mallak of Austin, TX, Lionel Endres of Mt. Pleasant, and Mitchell Endres of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Tom Goulding of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter and Charles; and three sisters, Florence Horgan, Esther Goulding, and Edna Mitchell.
