James Alford McDaniel

James Alford McDaniel, age 85, of Remus passed away on May 18, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on October 26, 1928 to Hugh and Jenny McDaniel in Corinth, MS. He was raised in the Corinth area until the age of 18. Jim moved to Holt and went to work for General Motors as a tool and die maker. Jim married Joyce Hallenbeck on December 20, 1948 in Corinth. After retiring from General Motors in 1974 Jim and Joyce moved to the Remus area. He loved going fishing and hunting, playing cards, gardening, bowling and talking to his buddies on the CB.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce; children, Janice Goulette of Midland, Joy Christle of Lansing, Jean Conn of Eaton Rapids, Joan Coolman of Eaton Rapids and James (Bernadine) McDaniel of Remus; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; 1 great-grandchild and brothers, Houston and Albert.

A funeral service for Jim will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maier Family Funeral Home in Weidman with Robert Scott officiating . The family will receive friends at a visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in Jim's honor may be made to The Norval K Morey Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
