Quillen, 72, of Pewamo and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Friday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass begins. Jim was born June 25, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, the youngest child of eleven children born to Joseph and Katherine (Pohl) Quillen. He was employed by General Motors in Lansing for over 30 years. Prior to that, he had worked in the oil fields. Jim loved being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisher and loved spending time with his son Scott and two granddaughters. Jim is survived by his son, Scott Quillen of Canton, GA; two granddaughters, Mikalah and Melania and their mother, Sarah Quillen of Georgia; siblings, John Quillen of Galesburg and Marilyn Quillen of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters-in-law, Hedy Quillen and Clara Mae Quillen both of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Evans of Kalamazoo and William Spencer of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight siblings Stella Parker, Patrick Quillen, Mildred Quillen, Viola Sheahan, Martin Quillen, Rose Ellen DeShane, Agnes Evans, and Colleen Spencer.
