James Rondy, 71, of Remus, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at McLaren Bay Regional. He was born November 10, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Donald and Shirley (Sullivan) Rondy. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1968, James married Cheryl Gimmey on April 12, 1969, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, as the first wedding in the current sanctuary. James worked with his father, Don and Uncle Ed at Central State Distributors from 1969-1980. He became co-owner with his brother, Don and cousins, Gary and Ron from 1980-1986. In 1986, he went to work for Fabiano Brothers as warehouse manager until he retired in 2009. James was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with his neighbors. James is survived by his two children, James (Rochelle) Rondy Jr. of Gainesville, TX and Michelle (Kenny Cunningham) Crawford of Columbus, GA; eight grandchildren, Jerome (Molly), Anthony, Lucas (Jessica), Amanda, and Jaden Rondy, Zac (Alicia), MacKenzy (Tori), and Ethan (Tabatha) Crawford; seven great grandchildren; Eli, Jeter, Benaiah and Leo Rondy, Callahan, Lennon and Casen Crawford; three siblings, Donald (Judy) Rondy of Mt. Pleasant, Jane (Dale) Armstrong of Weidman, and Mary Jo (Dave) Phillips of Wimauma, Fl.; special nephew, Brad Armstrong; and many more nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cheryl in 2020; son, Charles Rondy; grandson, Alexx Crawford. A Funeral Mass for James will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. Interment will be in Broomfield Township Cemetery immediately following. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Friday from 4-6 p.m. with the Vigil Service beginning at 6 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Cancer Services of Isabella County or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church and funeral home.
