James Ray Stapleton

James R. Stapleton, 93, of Mount Pleasant, MI, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025. Born in St. Charles, Michigan, on September 19, 1931, Jim lived a life marked by service, devotion, and deep love for his family and country.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War aboard the USS Leyte. That time instilled in him a lifelong commitment to honoring and supporting fellow veterans—a cause he held close to his heart.

Jim was predeceased by his beloved son, Mark J. Stapleton, on January 19, 1976.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Imogene; his loving daughters, Kelli and Terri; and Terri's husband, Ed Thompson. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Matt, Tanner C., Tanner T., Bailey, Hailey Rae, Kyia, Dax, and Teddy. In addition, Jim will be remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and neighbors.

A visitation will be held at Charles Lux Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858, on Monday, June 2, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service with military honors at 11:00 AM. A light luncheon will follow at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home).

Casual attire is welcomed, and all are encouraged to bring and share their favorite stories of Jim.
