James Louis Switzer

James Switzer, 74, of Shepherd, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at his home. He was born Feb. 1, 1941, in Alma, son of the late Leon F. and Caroline B. (Vautrin) Switzer. A graduate of Shepherd High School in 1960, Jim married Nancy Stahl on Aug. 4, 1962, at Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. He was employed as a custodian at Central Michigan University for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed Michigan sports teams, camping, fishing, traveling and hunting. Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Switzer, two sons, David Switzer of Mt. Pleasant and Allen (Laurie) Switzer of Sidney; three grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, and Stephanie; three great-grandchildren, Teagan, Emerald, and Marshall; sister, Ardelle (Bill) Pickering of Livonia; twin brother, John (Wanda) Switzer of Shepherd; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred in Chippewa Township Cemetery.
