James Wentworth, 91, of Lake Isabella, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant. Jim was born August 24, 1931, in Clare, Michigan, son of the late Sylvester E. and Mable (Dora) Wentworth. The majority of Jim's career was spent in the oil field industry. He was employed by Roosevelt Refinery for 12 years, Dart Oil and Gas for 15 years, and A and R Gas Storage for seven years. He was a title research analyst for Dart Oil and A and R Gas Storage. Jim was a member of the Moose Lodge, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was loyal to following the Detroit Tigers and Tiger Woods. Jim is survived by his wife, Joyce, whom he married on December 31, 1974; seven children from his first marriage to Bonnie Ward, James D. (Sandy) Wentworth of Mt. Pleasant, Richard W. (Anne) Wentworth of Okemos, Diane M. (Richard) Andre of Myrtle Beach, SC, David (Mary Beth) Wentworth of Myrtle Beach, SC, Victoria Wentworth of Burke, VA, Jeffery (Beth) Wentworth of Mt. Pleasant, and Joseph (Rebecca) Wentworth of TX; step children, Debra Sawade, Monty Lirones, James Sawade; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; six siblings, Richard "Dick" Wentworth, Chuck (Sue) Wentworth, Patricia Brown, Don (Phyllis) Wentworth, Ted (Rose) Wentworth, and Mike (Patty) Wentworth; two sisters in-law, Alma Wentworth and Connie Wentworth; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Mable Wentworth; and brothers, Daniel, Larry, and Bernard; brother in law, Ed; step daughter, Mary. Jim's funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 17, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City with Father Thomas Held officiating. A luncheon will be in the Knights of Columbus Hall. Following the meal, Jim will be laid to rest in St. Henry Cemetery in Rosebush. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church.
