Janet Pearl Adams

Janet Adams, 81, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at McLaren Central Michigan. Her funeral will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Reece of Maranatha Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday, one hour prior to the service. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Mt. Pleasant VFW Post 3033. Memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Janet was born Dec. 23, 1934, in Belle Fourche, SD, daughter of the late Thomas D. and Caroline C. (Schaub) Cessena. She married Jon M. Adams on January 16, 1954, in Sturgis, SD. Janet was employed by the State of Michigan for 18 years and also by Emerald Physical Therapy for 10 years. In her retirement, she became the caregiver of a 100 year old woman. Some of her favorite pastimes were swimming, watching TV, crocheting, and watching her grandchildren play. She especially loved her dog, Cinnamon. Janet is survived by six children, Steve Paleck of Rapid City, SD, Michael Adams of Mt. Pleasant, Mark Adams of Lake Ann, Marsha (Paul) Johnson of Kingsley, Michelle (Bill) Webb of Grand Rapids, and Merlin (Shelby) Adams of Mt. Pleasant; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Dorothy (Tom) McClatchie of Monterey, TN and Glady Sveumn of Cupertino, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jon Adams; six month old daughter, Monica Jean Adams; and two brothers, Archie Cessena and Eddie Cessena.
