Janice Kay Sutton

Janice Kay Sutton, 62, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024.  Janice was born July 16, 1962, daughter to Max and Vera (Lorenz) Straus.  She married Robert Sutton on May 3, 1990.  Early in their marriage Janice and Bob traveled a bit, and one of their special places was the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. They eventually settled down in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.  Janice briefly worked as a nurse-aid and then she worked at the Deli in Meijer for about 15 years.

Janice was part of a big family, she along with her brothers and sisters loved to play outside, playing tag in the summer and snow forts in the winter.  Janice loved her family and friends dearly and was thankful for each and every one of them.  She would take care of anyone in need.  Janice loved being a mother to her children, she sacrificed and gave her children whatever she could but most of all she gave them love.  Janice had many friends whom she loved dearly, she enjoyed having lunch and even coffee with them.  Janice also enjoyed hunting.  Robert and Janice would go to Deer Camp every year where they would hunt together and spend time around a campfire and cooking with friends.  Janice enjoyed painting and other crafts throughout her life.

Janice is survived by her children, Jessica Sutton (Steven Jackson) and Charles Sutton; her grandchild, Adamina Bailey; many stepchildren, grand-stepchildren, and great-grand-stepchildren; siblings, Marge, Mike, Jim, Bob, Karen, Maxine, and Teri; and sister in-law, Ruth Ann and brother in-law Jim.  She was preceded in death by her parents Max and Vera Straus; her husband, Robert Sutton; her son, Jerimiah Straus.

A Funeral Mass for Janice will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Pleasant. It will be followed by a celebration of life dinner at 6:00 p.m. at the Naturopathic Institute of Therapies & Education, 503 E Broadway, Mount Pleasant.
