Jason Lynn Gruss

Jason Gruss, 41, of Beal City, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at his home after five years of ongoing treatments for brain cancer. He was born February 28, 1980, in Mt. Pleasant, son of Jeffery and Janice (Paisley) Gruss. A graduate of Beal City High School in 1998, Jason grew up at the heels of his dad until his passing in 1993. At that time Jason continued in his dad's shoes and began working at Straus Masonry in Beal City. He started there at the age of 13 and worked his way up to Job Engineer. His illness may have slowed him down but never stopped him. He went to work every day that he could, until the very end. Jason loved to hunt, whether it be whitetail deer or coyote hunting with his dogs. He made trips to Kansas with his Kansas hunting group for many years. His smile and kind heart will be missed by all. Jason is survived by his mother, Janice Gruss (Greg Germain) of Beal City; sister and brother in-law, Janell and Rob Anderson; and favorite nephew, Westin Anderson; grandfathers, Don Paisley and Richard Gruss; aunts and uncles, Karen Kavanaugh, Jackie Earl, Gary Paisley, Doug (Chris) Gruss, Kim (Mike) Gruss, Rod Gruss, Karen (Dan) Faber, Steve (Rhonda) Gruss and Kay Smith; many cousins that were his hunting buddies and friends; and special friends, Kevin Clare, Steven Graham, Shaun Graham, and John Graham. Jason was preceded in death by his father, Jeff Gruss; grandmothers, Joyce Paisley, Alice Paisley, and Bernice Gruss; and uncles, Terry Pung and Tony Smith. Jason's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 6, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Damitio officiating. A luncheon will follow in Lincoln Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-8 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Pardee Cancer Fund.
