Jay Huber passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024. He was born June 5, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant to Duane and Anna Marie (Fox) Huber. He attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated in 1975. Throughout his childhood, Jay enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting mushrooms, and working on the family farm. His strong work ethic started at a young age. It was a characteristic that described him well throughout his life. Jay enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and they were a priority to him, and he was always ready to socialize. In 1979 he married Brenda Methner and moved to the Winn area. Jay and Brenda had twin daughters in 1982. His commitment as a father was profound and unmatched. Jay worked at Sowle Mayflower as a CDL driver and dispatcher for 26 years before purchasing the company in 2005. Jay had a passion for helping people, as well as a sense of adventure, which was the perfect combination for his entrepreneurial success. Jay called himself an "average Joe", but he was much more than that, as the lives that he touched were countless. He had a generous spirit and would go to great lengths to help anyone he encountered - friend or stranger. His hobbies and interests included gardening, drives down country roads, taking in a sporting event, his fantasy baseball league, country music, wildlife watching, and spending time with his friends and family. Jay is survived by his wife Brenda; twin daughters, Jennifer (Jake) Parker of St. Johns and Jamie Huber of Mt. Pleasant; grandson, Landon Parker; siblings, Timothy (William Mann) Huber of Provincetown, MA and Susan (Michael) Beaver of Grand Haven; and several nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Anna Marie Huber; and siblings, Tom Huber and Carol Konwinski. Jay's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 15, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Following the service he will be laid to rest in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Animal Treatment Society (HATS). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. To sign the online guest book or leave a condolence for the family please visit www.CharlesRLux.com.
