Jean B. Simpson, 99, formerly of Escanaba passed away Tuesday, December 31, in Alma. Her funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, at Lux Funeral Home (503 E. Broadway, Mt. Pleasant MI 48858) with Rev. Stephen Shugert officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association (Dept. 77-3968, Chicago IL 60678-3968). Jean was born December 21, 1903, in Methil, Scotland, the daughter of James and Christine (Galloway) Farmer. She married George Simpson on September 5, 1931, in Lansing. She had lived in Flint, Traverse City, and Escanaba before moving to Alma where she spent the last 10 years. She enjoyed playing the piano and knitting. But most important to her was her family, especially her grandchildren. Jean is survived by her daughter, Christine Heller of Escanaba; six grandchildren, Joseph (Annette) Heller of Vulcan, Todd (Mary Anne) Heller of Mt. Pleasant, Andrew (Marcia) Heller of Grand Blanc, Bruce (Marjery) Heller of Escanaba, Daniel Heller of Escanaba, and Jennifer (Steven) Baumler of Escanaba; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1967.
