Jeanne (Martin) Trask-McEvoy, 72, of Oldsmar, Florida, died Friday, September 16, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2005 with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Interment of her cremated remains will take place in Calvary Cemetery immediately following. Memorial contributions in Jeannes name may be made to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation or the Ovarian Cancer Foundation. She was born June 9, 1933 in Bay City, the daughter of Joseph and Florence Martin. She married Edward J. McEvoy in January 1989. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Central Michigan University and was elected as homecoming queen for both schools. She retired from Alma Public Schools. She was a member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, Florida, East Lake Woodlands Country Club, a lifetime member of the Michigan Education Association, and the Red Hat Society. Jeanne was passionate about a number of things during her life. She traveled extensively, loved books and reading, art, gardening, golf, church, sewing and crafts of all kinds, but it was her grandchildren that brought her the most joy. She will be dearly missed by her family and a multitude of close friends. All who knew her were touched by her deep faith and courage. Survivors include her husband Edward J. McEvoy of Oldsmar, Fla.; daughter, Kim (Jackson) Trask-French French of Boston, Mass.; five step-children, Tom (Kim) McEvoy of Rosebush, Tim McEvoy of Virginia Beach, Va., Tarri McEvoy of Durango, Col., Matt McEvoy of Orlando, and Mary Jane McEvoy of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Jake and Eliza French, Oaklie Jane Mogg and Madeline McEvoy; and two sisters, Margaret (John) Naumes of Lake Leelanau and Marie (Mike) Steffins of Vail, Col. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Kay Hutchinson; and brother, Bill Martin.
