Joan Alice Dell, 77, of Mt. Pleasant died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. Those planning to make an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation, the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Joan was born Dec. 17, 1927 in Pontiac, the daughter of Levi and Isabel (ONeil) Sova. She married Lavern Barnhart in 1948 at Sacred Heart Church. After his death she married Louis Dell in 1963. She was a daycare provider for more than 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with children and friends. But her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Joan had belonged to the choir. She was an avid pet lover and enjoyed crocheting. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Joan is survived by eight children, Vicki (Marty) Naumes of Mt. Pleasant, Peggy (Jeff) Greenacre of Bullhead City, AZ, Linda (Bruce Hawkins) Barnhart of Mt. Pleasant, Rick (Marsha) Barnhart of Rockford, Deborah Barnhart of Sarasota, Doug (Ann) Barnhart of Mt. Pleasant, Mark (Kelly) Dell of Jenison, and Renee Dell of Mt. Pleasant; 14 grandchildren, Shannon and Josh French, Tracey Endres, Ryan (Wendy McConnell) Endres, Aaron and Jackie Barnhart, Andrea, Megan and Brian Barnhart, Nicole, Michael and Krista Fabiano and their father, Joseph G. Fabiano, Jenny Strong, Amber and Eric Dell, and Preston Dell; three great-grandchildren, Breeann and Ashlee Sterner and Bryce French; and two brothers, Gary (Vicki) Sova of Mt. Pleasant and Dick (Marilyn) Sova of Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lavern Barnhart and Louis Dell; and granddaughter, Dana Naumes.
