Joan R. Bishop

Joan R. Bishop, 58, of Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, December 15, 2001 at her home. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart For Health. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Joan was born July 1, 1943, in Detroit, the daughter of Joseph and Rita (Formella) Jurkiewicz. She will be remembered most notably as a devoted and loving mother who would spare no effort to help her family at any time. Also an animal lover, Joan was especially devoted to her dog, Ewok. Joan is survived by her beloved children, Tammy S. (Francisco Heredia) Bishop of Needham, Mass., Ronnie Lee Bishop of Tuscon, AZ and Vicky Bishop of Milwaukee, WI; her mother, Rita Jurkiewicz of Madison Heights; two sisters, Veronica (Tim) Agle of Davison and Frances (Art) Jackson of Ferndale; one brother, Daniel Jurkiewicz of Madison Heights; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; her brother, Joseph Jurkiewicz; and her husband Daniel Hughes in 1999.
