Joan Kett, 77, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Beaverton passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at home, with her family by her side. Her funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, November 3, at Mt. Pleasant Community Church (1400 W. Broomfield St. Mt. Pleasant) with Pastor Wally Hostetter officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-3 p.m. Cremation will follow and her ashes will be interred in Beaverton Cemetery in Beaverton, Michigan. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Community Church Deacon Fund or Humane Animal Treatment Society (HATS) of Isabella County. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Joan was born January 30, 1940, in St. Charles, Michigan, daughter of the late Robert and Angeline (Presidio) Theile. A 1958 graduate of St. Charles High School, Joan married Edward Podoba on April 25, 1959. After his death she married Jack Kett on July 25, 1991. Some of Joans favorite pastimes were shopping, collecting stuffed animals, camping, hunting, and her TV programs. She adored babies and was very strong in her faith. But more than anything, family was most important to her. Joan is survived by three daughters, Dawn (Tom) Moline of Royal Oak, Doreen Dee Dee (Hank) Richardson of Washington, MI, and Debra (Brian) Horanoff of Blanchard; adopted son, Troy (Shelley) Frasher of Beaverton; special niece, Angie, who was like her fourth daughter; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Sean, Harris, Vincent, and Hayden, and Amanda, Nick, Nolan, and Natalie; great-granddaughter, Lydia; three siblings, Kathy Kirby of Georgia, Ernestine Theile of St. Charles, and Tony (Chris) Theile of St. Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Angeline Theile; first husband, Edward Podoba; second husband, Jack Kett; sister, Roberta Hoerner; and brother-in-law, Dallas Kirby.
