Joann Martin, age 61, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on March 14, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Alma.
Joann was born on June 8, 1964, in Montcalm County to Robin Johanson and Lela Cook. She grew up surrounded by her siblings and was welcomed into the family by her older siblings, Tina, Robin, Cindy, and Tismal Crow. Later, she welcomed her younger sibling, Jackie.
On September 8, 1999, Joann married the love of her life, Mark Martin, in Isabella County. Together, they built a life centered around family and shared many years of love and memories.
Joann worked for many years at the casino as both a dealer and a security guard, where she built many lasting friendships and connections within the community. She also spent time working as a clerk at Jon's Corner Store.
She enjoyed painting her nails, beading, crocheting, and doing arts and crafts. Joann especially cherished spending time with her family and loved creating memories with those closest to her.
Joann was a proud member of the Cherokee Tribe in Oklahoma. She was also very proud of returning to school later in life to complete her education and earn her high school diploma, an accomplishment that meant a great deal to her.
Joann is survived by her husband, Mark Martin of Mt. Pleasant; her sons, Lee Davis of Mt. Pleasant, Mitchell Jackson of Weidman, and Andrew (Jamie) Jackson of Weidman; grandchildren, Logan, Jadrian, Jasmine, Mitchell Jr., Lee Jr., and Emmet.
She is also survived by her siblings, Tina (Ray) Spencer, Cindy (Robert) Moomey, and Jackie (Gary) Martin; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Steven) Martin, Martha Pudvay, Kathy Martin, Christine Thayer, Dorothy Davis, and Nellie Miller; brother-in-law, Delbert Martin; along with many nieces and nephews.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Robin and Lela Johanson; sister, Robin Grace; brother, Tismal Crow; her sister-in-law, Christal Addiss; and brothers-in-law, Terry Martin and Nelson Davis.
Joann will be remembered for her creativity, determination, and love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joann's funeral will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Officiated by Pastor Gene Haymaker. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. A luncheon will follow in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
