Joel David Levich, 63, of Pentwater, Michigan died on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, in Ludington. David, as he was known, competed in the Special Olympics for more than 50 years and was the proud recipient of numerous medals and ribbons in men's gymnastics, bowling and Bocce Ball. He was a Bronze medal winner in gymnastics at the 1975 International Special Olympics in Mt. Pleasant. He also loved music, especially oldies music, and making hooked rugs for which he received a blue ribbon at the Mason County Fair. David spent the last year living in the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart, MI. Prior to living at the O.C.M.C.F. he was a client of Dimensions Unlimited in Ludington. Davids family wants to thank the staff of the O.C.M.C.F. for the love and care he received there, and the staff of Dimensions Unlimited for helping maximize David's potential and shaping him into the generous and kind person he was. Daivd is survived by his father, Calman Levich; and sister, Judy Levich and Mimi Levich. He was preceded in death by his mother Eva B. Levich; and sister, Rebecca Andrea Levich. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13 at Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
