Joel Samuel Wood

Joel Wood, 19, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Kevin Chamberlain officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3-9 p.m. and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Joel was born Aug. 30, 1995, in Alma, son of Joseph William and Shelli Kathleen (Arcuri) Wood. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in 2013, Joel worked as a machinist at Michael Engineering for 3 years. Some of his favorite pastimes were ice fishing, small game hunting, music, and working on his 1987 Jeep Wrangler (along with his buddy Quinn Ritter). He was meticulous at tinkering and was known to be tight with his money; if he wanted something, he saved until he could buy it himself. Joel is survived by his parents, Joe and Shelli Wood of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Cody Wood of Mt. Pleasant; paternal grandfather, Richard (Carol) Wood of Weidman; paternal grandmother, Catherine (Alan) Larson of Shepherd; paternal great-grandmother, Marie Wood of Mt. Pleasant; extended family, Noah Humphrey and Quinn Ritter; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sam and Goldie Arcuri Jr.; and brother, Sawyer Lee Wood.
