John Cascaddan, 72, of Gladwin passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at Gladwin Pines Skilled Nursing Facility, after an extended fight with Parkinsons and multiple injuries he sustained in a 2010 auto accident. He was born Nov. 24, 1942, in Pontiac, son of the late Carson F. and Georgia L. (Gates) Cascaddan. He was the third of seven children, and was a twin to Carson Eugene. A graduate of Pontiac Central High School in 1961, John joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Strategic Air Command, as well as the Military Airlift Command. He was a veteran of both the USAF, both active and reserves from 1960-1975. Throughout his life he owned and operated gas stations and automotive repair shops. He was a top insurance salesperson for multiple companies for over 30 years. A well traveled man, John owned his own English school in Osaka, Japan. He taught English in Japan, China, Korea, Philippines, and Vietnam. He actively raised money to build schools in the countries in which he worked. On his most recent trip, he visited Vietnam in 2009. John is survived by two sons, Robert (Theresa) Cascaddan and David (Charlotte) Johanson, both of Marino Valley, CA; nine grandchildren; sister, Mariedith Cascaddan of Gladwin; brother, Carl Cascaddan of Gladwin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sumiko in 1995; three brothers, Carson (twin), Louis, and Carl; and sister, Vivian Causey. A cemetery service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Perry Mt. Park Cemetery in Pontiac with military honors. The family is being served by Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
