John Fuzz Weber, 77, of Beal City, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City with Father Patrick Jankowiak presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of St. Joseph Church on Friday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Isabella Community Soup Kitchen or Beal City Athletic Association. Envelopes are available at the church or Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Fuzz was born January 6, 1934, in Beal City, the son of the late Jacob and Eleanor (Boge) Weber. He attended Beal City School and was inducted into the U.S. Army on July 23, 1953, in Detroit. Fuzz was stationed at Fort Devens, MA as an AAA Gun Crewman. He was given the prestigious honor of being chosen as a member of the Honor Guard Parade Crew , presiding at the funerals of fellow servicemen. He was released from active duty on June 8, 1955, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. During his time of service he met Charlotte Snookie Y. Nolan and they were married on June 16, 1956, in Angola, IN. They had their marriage blessed on July 28, 1956, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in the presence of their family and friends. Along with his two brothers, Ben and Ed, he was the owner of Weber Brothers Sawmill in Beal City. Fuzz was responsible for buying timber, hauling logs, trucking lumber and whatever else needed done around the mill. He was well respected by his peers and associates, and had great knowledge of logging and timber harvesting. Fuzz was a member of St. Joseph Church, Beal City Knights of Columbus Council 3651, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3761, Beal City Business Association, and the Michigan Association of Timbermen. Fuzz was instrumental in the harvesting and transporting of the State of Michigans Christmas Tree. He enjoyed traveling, socializing, attending trade shows and spending time with his family and friends. He always had a good story to tell and left a lasting impression on the people he met. Fuzz is survived by his wife, Charlotte; four children, Deborah (Dave) Farley of Dover, NH, Rick (Pam) Weber, Dan (Chris) Weber and Amy (Kevin) Salisbury, all of Beal City; eight grandchildren, Mark and Paul Weber, Chad (Korin) Weber, Ryan, Melissa, and Kevin Weber and Cal and Carson Salisbury; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Sophia and Madeline Weber; three siblings, Ben (Shirley) Weber and Ed Weber, both of Beal City and Millie Ayling of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Weber in 2002; two sisters, Louise Weber and Kathryn Straus; and brother, Jim Weber.
