John Gross, 52, of Beal City passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw. A Funeral Mass for John will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 7, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Friday from 3-8 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker School. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. John was born October 13, 1964, in Mt. Pleasant, son of Raymond L. and Theresa M. (Vogel) Gross. He graduated from Beal City High School in 1983 where he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. A lifelong dairy farmer, John was co-owner of Gross Dairy Farms, Inc. and Gross Brothers Livestock. Always ready with a smile and laugh, John was a person with a wonderful sense of humor, had a strong work ethic, lived with integrity, and was proud of his conservative values. John took great pride and care in the management of the dairy herd entrusted to him by his father. He truly loved working alongside his father and brothers. Some of his favorite pastimes were golfing, and watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and teams from the University of Michigan. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends including his mother, Theresa; 13 siblings, Ann (Stan) Pasch of Lake Leelanau, Sue (Dan) Boss of Suttons Bay and Ken (Lauralyn) Gross, Gary Gross, Bob Gross, Jane (Dennis) Bechtel, Julie (Rich) Faber, Donna (Brock) Horsley, Laurie (Brian) Schafer, Dan Gross, Dave (Lori) Gross, Pat (Heather) Gross and Mark (Krista) Gross, all of Beal City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond in 2011.
