John McDonald, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, MI passed away Saturday January 6, 2018 at home with family by his side. A Funeral Mass for John will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, at Sacred Heart Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as Celebrant. Following Mass, a luncheon will take place at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ithaca. The family will receive friends at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Monday from 3-8p.m with the Vigil beginning at 7:30p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice and Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or church. John was born November 2, 1937 in Vernon Township, Rosebush, MI, son of Mabel Ann (Wentworth) McDonald and the late Raymond McDonald. John married Marian (Bare) McDonald on February 2, 1963 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Rosebush. John was self " employed for Sealtest and for 20 years was Director of Sales at Perfection Bakeries. After 45 years of working he retired in September 1998. Some of his favorite activities were playing cards, golfing and visiting with family and friends. He was an Assistant golf coach for Sacred Heart Academy for several years. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marian of Mt. Pleasant; his children, Kelly McDonald (David Bronder) of Mt. Pleasant, Rebecca McDonald of Mt. Pleasant, Anthony (Melanie) McDonald of Saginaw; Three Grandchildren, Brandon, Carter and Ethan McDonald; His mother Mabel McDonald of Rosebush; Siblings; Dorothy (Charles) Angus of Midland, Charles (Phyllis) McDonald of Midland, Elizabeth Brannigan of Mt Pleasant, Angus McDonald of Rosebush, Alma Wentworth of Mt. Pleasant, Donald (Karen) McDonald of Freeland, Monica (Royce) Hooper of Rochester Hills, Mary (David) Brickner of Beal City; in-laws; Fred and Connie Bare; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond McDonald, in-laws, Stanley and Marie Bare and brother-in-laws, Michael Brannigan and Daniel Wentworth.
