John "Jack" R. Fleming

Jack Fleming, 66, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, March 17, 2007, St. Patricks Day, at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 4 p.m. Cremation will take place following visitation and a Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. The family will also be receiving friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the Mass begins. Interment of his cremains will be in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Jack was born Sept. 12, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of John L. and Anna B. (Quinlan) Fleming. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1958 and received his bachelors degree from Central Michigan University. He was then immediately accepted to officers candidate school in New Port, Rhode Island where he received a commission in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He served as Lt. Junior Grade for four years active duty on board the U.S.S. John A. Bole in the Pacific Fleet. He enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, singing, telling jokes, and being with relatives and dear friends. Jack is survived by his brother, Mike (Kathey) Fleming of Greenwood Village, CO; his sister, Joan (Charles) Kneisler of Lenexa, KS; and nine nieces and nephews, Colleen Fleming, Dan Fleming, Matthew Kneisler, Mark Kneisler, Luke Kneisler, John Kneisler, Christopher Kneisler, Andrew Kneisler, and Kathleen Hacker. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Fleming.
