John J. Sheahan

John Sheahan, 89, of Beal City, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Funeral Mass for John will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. with the Vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Lux Family Life Story Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. John was born July 19, 1924, in Rosebush, son of the late Fred and Martha (McGuirk) Sheahan. He married Beatrice E. Schafer on May 14, 1955 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. He was a dairy farmer most of his life and was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 3651. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. John is survived by six children, Diane (Ed) Smith of Mt. Pleasant; Janet (Robert) Courtright of Traverse City, Bill Sheahan of Beal City, Bruce (Cara) Sheahan of Beal City, Bob Sheahan of Weidman and Mark (Tracy Fedewa) Sheahan of Beal City; six grandchildren, Brent and Aaron Smith, Heather and Joshua Courtright and Grant and Erica Sheahan; two step-grandchildren, Jason and Katie; two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Lexi Smith; his brother, Fred (Theresa) Sheahan of Flint; sister-in-law, Agnes Sheahan of Beal City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice in 1996; son, Larry Sheahan in 1984; grandson, Mitchell Sheahan in 1989; four brothers, Edward, Raymond Chuck, Donald, and Howard; and sister, Monica Andres.
