John E. Wieber

John Wieber, 93, of Beal City, passed away Dec. 29, 2009 in Florida. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 on Friday July 23, 2010, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father Patrick Jankowiak presiding. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging, Woodland Hospice or St. Joseph The Worker Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. John was born November 2, 1916, in Beal City, the son of Conrad and Margaret Catherine (Reihl) Wieber. He was a lifelong farmer, born and raised on a centennial farm. He was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Church and a lifetime member of the Beal City Knights of Columbus Council 3651. One of his favorite pastimes was watching baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers. He was also an avid card player and woodsman, and he enjoyed squirrel hunting, scratch off lottery tickets and reading his morning newspaper. John was an easy going, gentle man with a grand sense of humor. He never had a drivers license but he knew everyone in the surrounding area by name. John is survived by his sister, Rita Doerfer; nieces, Arleen (Bob) Molesworth, Susan Doerfer, and Brenda (Al) Mickelson; great nieces, Tina Molesworth and Angie (Greg) Dustin and great-great niece, Dawn Bigger. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Regina Wieber; brothers, Leo, Walter, Henry and Alex Wieber; and brother-in-law, Eldon Doerfer.
