Jon Fortino, 61, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Blodgett Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids surrounded by his loving family. Jon was born in Mt. Pleasant MI the son of Dr. William and Mary "Ruth" (Merrifield) Fortino. Jon graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1979 and was employed by Neat and Green Lawn Care. Jon proudly welcomed his daughter Julia on October 31, 1987. Jon would go on to raise and care for Julia with the love and support of wife and soul mate Candie. Jon and Candie blended their family in marriage on July 19, 1997 completing the family with step daughters Jessica and Mallory. Jon was very proud to be a dad but even more proud when he became "Grampy" to Jordyn and Morgan. Jon loved them with his whole heart. Jon loved music, camping, and being with friends and family. He had a love of food and showed this with his grill and smoker for friends and family at every given opportunity. Jon also looked forward to the Mt. Pleasant Townie party every year to connect with longtime friends. The memories that Jon has given to many will live forever in the stories that will be told by all who knew and loved him. Most of all, he loved staying home, his favorite place, just relaxing with Candie and their dog Gemma. Jon is survived by his wife of 24 years Candie (Boynton) Fortino of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Daughters Jessica (Kent) Manley of Beal City, MI, Mallory (Jordan) Goldner of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Granddaughters Jordyn and Morgan Manley, his Brothers and Sisters, who affectionately called him "Jonny", Bill (Deb) Fortino, Mia Landon, Anne Fortino all of Zephyrhills, FL, Brien (Jane) Fortino of Charlotte, MI, Mike (Lee) Fortino of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Kristy (Ron) Stevenson of Sparta, MI, Mother in law Jennie Brenner of Mt. Pleasant, MI and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jon was preceded in death by his Daughter Julia Fortino, Parents Dr. William and Mary "Ruth" Fortino, Brother David Crippin and Brother-in-law Cecil Landon. A Funeral for Jon will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Mother B.J. Heyboer as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home from 4-7:30 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
