Jonas J. Shawboose, 74, of Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday March 31, at Lux Funeral Home with Debbie Gutowski officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from noon until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart, Diabetes, or Alzheimers Associations. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Jonas was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Beal City, the son of Westbrook and Dorothy (Pego) Shawboose. He married Barbara Braspenning August 13, 1953, in Coloma. He worked at Campbell-Wyant-Cannon foundry. He was a member of the Kateri Circle and enjoyed traveling, going to pow-wows, flea markets, listening to music, smoking, and gambling at the casino. He was a Saginaw-Chippewa Tribal member Jonas is survived by his wife, Barbara of Muskegon; 10 children, Merton (Lorraine) Flory of Mt. Pleasant, Ruby Shawboose of Mt. Pleasant, Pamela Shawboose of Montague, Jovain Shawboose of Muskegon, Robert Shawboose of San Francisco, Cal., Westbrook Shawboose of Muskegon, Laura Shawboose of Muskegon, Anita Shawboose of Muskegon, Vanyork (Amy) Shawboose of Mt. Pleasant, and Gloria Larson of Muskegon. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Bradley, Jimi, Eric and Melissa Flory, Letta, Barbara and Justin Shawboose, Nicole Shawboose, Dacia and Jay Shawboose, Westbrook Shawboose III, Shaun, Shadler, Allyssa, Nicholas and Scott, and Angelina Shawboose, and Cody Hauke; eight great grandchildren, Kobe, Julian and Kentae Flory, Lamora Shawboose, Robert Dawson Jr., Pierre Dawson and Fallon Thompson, and Jonathon Gelios; and cousin Joyce Dogbey and her children. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Doris Stone and Lillian Stone.
