Jordan Rae was a lover of all people. It was no surprise that she made so many endearing friendships over the years. Active and outgoing, she was an avid fan of basketball playing at the junior varsity level as well as the varsity level of track and cheerleading. Her beautiful smile could light up any room. Immensely proud of the young woman she was becoming, her family loved her deeply and she was fondly admired by her many close friends. Jordans story begins in the year of 2003. American Idol, the singing competition television series as well as, Friends, the popular sitcom, were still favorites in homes across America. On November 4th, Jordan Elise brought much joy and happiness to her parents Eric Famutimi and Rebecca Rae. She was welcomed into the family by her older siblings, Evelyn and Mary and younger brother Eric Junior and was later joined by older sister, Erica. Jordan was content whenever she was surrounded by her loving family, especially her stepmother, Clara. Growing up with four siblings, there was never a dull moment in the Famutimi household! As much as they found their fair share of mischief, they were also close during their developing years. Born with a free expressive spirit, her siblings remember her love of dancing at a young age. Although she wasnt very good at dancing in their eyes, she never let that stop her which was a reoccurring theme throughout her adolescence. She never quit or gave up doing the things she enjoyed and worked hard in order to achieve anything she made up her mind to accomplish. A talented athlete, Jordan was extremely dedicated to the cheer team and was thrilled when she mastered the back tuck! Most of all, however, she loved hanging out with her teammates and friends. Her natural ability to put others at ease coupled with her energetic nature made her someone that everyone wanted to get to know. As active as she was socially as well as athletically, Jordan remained focused on her studies earning straight-As and holding her position on the honor roll throughout her years at Mt. Pleasant High School. During her short time, Jordan had touched the lives of many. As a member of Potter's House Family Worship Center she enjoyed helping with the food pantry as well as being a member of the youth group. Her sweet smile and warm personality made her easy to like and to trust, earning her many lasting friendships in her faith community. Serving others gave her the positive energy she needed to manage the day to day stresses of being a teen. It also brought her closer to her own personal journey as a Christian. In addition to sports, friends, and her faith life, family was very important to Jordan. She treasured their trips together as a family especially when they traveled to California in July 2019. The views down US Route 1 on the Pacific Coast Highway were absolutely breathtaking. Taking in the blue waters and the green hills, Jordan savored every turn. Later that same year in December, the family traveled to Chicago taking in the sights around the holidays and finished off the last moments of the decade ringing in the New Year in Wisconsin. Sadly, Jordan is gone too soon. There is no doubt that Jordan will forever be remembered for her vibrant spirit. She was a simple person who wanted nothing than the best for others. An inspiration to so many, the full impact of her work here on Earth may never be known. Described as dedicated and hardworking, passionate about people and her faith, Jordan leaves behind a remarkable collection of many fond memories. May her loved ones as well as the countless people who were touched by her presence, never doubt the impact she had on their hearts and in their lives. Jordan Elise Rae went home to be with God on Friday, February 28, 2020, at the tender young age of sixteen. Left behind to cherish her memory are her parents, Eric Famutimi of Mt. Pleasant and Rebecca Rae of Kalamazoo; siblings, Evelyn (Cajetan Iheka) Famutimi of Branford, CT (and their children, Kamsi and Kennena), Mary Famutimi, Erica Famutimi, and Eric Famutimi Jr., all at home, and Jasmine Rae of Lansing; her grandmother, Mary O. Famutimi of Mt. Pleasant; and many, many extended family members and close friends. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Clara Famutimi. To celebrate Jordans life, her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Potters House Family Worship Center with Pastor Carla Ives officiating. A meal will follow at the church and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery following the meal. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Famutimi Family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. To watch Jordan's video tribute, please click on the following link:
