Joseph K. Devine

Joseph K. Devine, 81, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at Masonic Pathways in Alma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 400 Mack Ave., Detroit MI 48201. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Joseph was born Feb. 9, 1925 in Washington D.C., the son of Joseph E. and Clara (Rampanelli) Devine. He married Mary Kathryn Bechtel. May 15, 1948 at Sacred Heart. His entire career was spent acquiring leases in the oil and gas industry. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 during World War II. He enjoyed golf, tennis, playing baseball in college, and he loved the Detroit Tigers. Joseph is survived by three daughters, Karen Devine of Mt. Pleasant, Cindy (Jim) Helm of Itasca, IL, and Denise (Larry) Hardin of Ft. Worth, TX; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Kathryn in 1974; and two brothers, Robert and John Devine.
