Joshua Matthew Schafer

Joshua Schafer, 19, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 along with his mother, Kimberly. A Funeral Mass for Joshua will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant and Father Donald Henkes as concelebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon concluding at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Schafer Family for the education of Joshuas siblings. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Joshua was born August 4, 1998 in Mt. Pleasant, son of Matthew A. and Kimberly A. (Pfeiffer) Schafer. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 2016 where he received varsity letters in both football and wrestling. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and enjoyed hunting, fishing, weight-lifting, and being outdoors. Josh adored his parents and siblings and loved being with his family including his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was known as being loyal to his friends. Joshua is survived by his father, Matthew; three siblings, Kalia Schafer and Isaiah Schafer, and Ryan McGuire; paternal grandparents, James R. and Jeanette Schafer of Mt. Pleasant; maternal grandparents, Robert and Joan Pfeiffer of Newport Richey, FL; aunts and uncles, Margaret Deoliveira of Cincinnati, OH, Maureen (Alan) Harke of Mt. Pleasant, Melinda Schafer of Mt. Pleasant, Marcus (Lakshmi Subramanian) Schafer of Madison, WI, Melissa (Pratik) Tandel of Mt. Pleasant, Michelle (Daniel) Davis of Merrill, Mary (Joseph) Jiovani of Madison Heights; Jeff (Sharon) Pfeiffer of San Antonio, TX, Donna (Rodney) Nichols of Pittsford, Kathleen Pfeiffer of Jackson and Ray (Karolyn) Pfeiffer of Jackson; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Marie Schafer; uncle, Augusto Deoliveira; and cousin, Sofia Deoliveira.
