Juan "John" Rodriguez, 81, of Breckenridge, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on August 16, 1944, in Detroit to Jose and Ofelia (Olivo) Rodriguez, John was the middle child of twelve siblings. At the age of five, his family moved to Breckenridge, where he grew up and made lifelong connections.
In his mid-twenties, John embraced the Jewish faith, a decision that became an important part of his life and values. He was a passionate advocate for immigrant families in Michigan, dedicating his time and energy to helping others build a better future. From his younger years canvassing for political causes to the steadfast principles he held throughout his life, John was a man of conviction, compassion, and purpose.
John worked for many years in machine assembly at Plasti-Paint, where he took pride in his work and friendships. Beyond his career, he found joy in life's simple pleasures, cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears and Cubs, tending to his garden, and listening to the music of his youth, especially 1950's favorites and songs rooted in his Mexican heritage.
The greatest joy of his life came in 1993, when he met Shawnna Greening at Thanksgiving. Together, they built a family filled with warmth, love, and laughter. John was a devoted father to Ashleigh (Jordan VanAtten) Rodriguez, Rebekah (Tyler Fleminger) Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez, and Gregorio "Greg" Rodriguez.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Ofelia, and eight of his siblings. He leaves behind his cherished children, Shawnna, his surviving siblings, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him with love.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 5th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.at the VFW Hall in St. Louis, located at 1295 W Monroe Road, St. Louis, MI 48880 so family and friends can gather to honor John's remarkable life and the countless ways he touched others.
