Judith Sandra Boyd

Judith Boyd, known affectionately as Judy, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the age of 82 in Mt. Pleasant. Born on September 23, 1943, in Muskegon, she was the cherished daughter of William and Millie (Alley) Kriesel and the beloved sister to William Kriesel. Judy was a proud graduate of Reeths Puffer High School, where she was a cheerleader and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University, where she met her husband, Patrick Boyd. They married on July 3, 1965, and shared a beautiful life. Later in life, she went on to earn her Master's in counseling.

Judy dedicated her career to Central Michigan University, retiring as the assistant director of financial aid. She enjoyed helping others, baking, reading, and gardening, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Judy is survived by her husband Patrick; five children, Patrick (Linda) Boyd of Mt. Pleasant, Shaun (Raj) Chohan of Boulder, CO, Kerri (Steve) Bendele of St. Johns, Jamie (Lisa) Boyd of Lowell, and Erin Boyd of Frisco, TX; grandchildren, Kylie Boyd, Kenna Boyd, Kolbey Boyd, and Kannyn Boyd, twins Quinn and Olivia Chohan, Jacob Bendele, Daniel Bendele, and Mark Bendele, and Zadene Boyd; brother, William (Linda) Kriesel of Muskegon; and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Matthew Bendele. Judy's memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

A Funeral Mass for Judy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member. Father Dan Christe will preside. Rite of Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery concluding with a luncheon at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home). The family will receive friends at the church one hour before Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Medilodge of Mt. Pleasant and the McLaren Stroke Center.
