June E. Thering

June Thering, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility with her family at her side. She was three days shy of her 92nd birthday. A Funeral Mass for June will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon following at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at the Lincoln Reception Center of Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Friday from 5-9 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 8 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. June was born April 21, 1926, in Saginaw, MI, daughter of the late Carl Eli and Merine Sophia (Gratopp) Bragg. She married Russell Thering on January 24, 1948, at Sacred Heart Church. After retiring from JC Penney in 1988, she devoted most of her time to her grandchildren, attending many of their school events. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. June is survived by six children, Dick (Debbie) Thering of Grand Blanc, Barb (Tim) Proos of Bellaire, Jerry (Lynn) Thering of Mt. Pleasant, Mike (Amy) Thering of Pelham, AL, Bob (Kathy) Thering of Mt. Pleasant and Patty Rydahl (Brian Malski) of Clinton Township; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Elaine Bess Bunting of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Thering; parents, Carl and Merine Bragg; children, Janet Thering, Jackie Heintz, and Phil Thering; grandson, Kevin Rydahl; granddaughter, Abby Lynn Thering; great grandson, Gage Thering; brothers, Shirley, Bill, Roger, and Gene Bragg; and sister, Kate Henry. The Thering family extends a special thank you to the staff at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility for the wonderful care that was given to June.
