Karen Long, 64, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015, at University Hospitals in Ann Arbor. A Funeral Mass for Karen will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 17, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Shepherd with Father Thomas Held presiding. Burial will be in St. Leos Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-7 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Karen was born May 15, 1950, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late Willis K. and Evelyn M. (Rademacher) Earl. A graduate of Beal City High School in 1969, Karen married Bruce G. Long on Sept. 19, 1975, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She had been employed by Ferro Mfg. for 15 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the 144th Military Police Family Support Unit. Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening, camping, Detroit professional sports and MSU sports, and spending time with her family. Karen is survived by her husband, Bruce; five siblings, Donna Bellinger of Mt. Pleasant, Jean (Jerry) Beck of Lansing, Richard (Janet) Earl of Mt. Pleasant, Larry (Deb) Earl of Laingsburg, and Shirley (Roger) Rice of Alma; sister-in-law, Donna Jean Earl of Mt. Pleasant; father-in-law, Gareld Long of Ashley; and Bruces siblings, Roberta (Steve) Miller, Curtis (Brenda) Long, Leota Long, Tony Long, and Onalee Long; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Russ Malley; brother, Lewis Earl; and brother-in-law, Robert Bellinger.
