Karolyn Agnes Merchand

Karolyn Agnes Merchand, age 57, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at her home. Karolyn was born on February 14, 1957 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Victor Joseph and Karoline (Kriesche) Merchand. Katie worked for many years at a sheltered workshop in Clare as an assembler. She enjoyed participating in Special Olympics, dancing, music, shopping, and doing her hair. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She was known as Princess to her housemates. Survivors include her mother, Karoline of Midland, three brothers: Michael and Margo Merchand of Mt. Pleasant, Gerald Merchand of Cedarville, MI and William and Terry Merchand of Pickford, MI. Also surviving are four sisters: Suzanne and Jim Moeggenberg of Midland, Annette andLarry Nickols of Laingsburg, Denise Latham of Engadine, MI and Patricia Merchand of Perrinton, MI. She was preceded in death by her father Victor and an infant brother, Joe. Katies family would like toextend a special thank you to all of her loving family at Listening Ear. Funeral services celebrating Katies life will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 1 p.m. from the Rowley Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Friends will gather with the family on Friday from 11 a.m. until time of the service. Memorial contributions in Katies memory have been suggested to Special Olympics or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes area available at the funeral home.
