Kathy Parnell, 55, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at MidMichigan Health System in Midland. The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, January 13, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. During that time, friends are welcome to share any memories and stories of Kathy at that time. Memorial contributions may be made to Pardee Cancer Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Kathy was born October 4, 1962, in Muskegon, MI, daughter of Wayne E. and Mary L. (Rambo) VanDyke. 1980 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Kathy served in the U.S. Navy from 1980-1981. On June 19, 1981, she married Larry Parnell in Portsmouth, VA. Kathy was an employed CNA, LPN for 10 years and also worked as a daycare provider and real estate agent. Some of her favorite pastimes were hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She genuinely enjoyed taking care of people. Kathy is survived by her husband, Larry; four children, Chelsea (Kenneth) DeLorenzo of Minooka, IL, Jacob Parnell (Cassie Gauthier) of Mt. Pleasant, Micah Parnell of Mt. Pleasant, and Mary Parnell, stationed in San Antonio, TX; her mother, Mary VanDyke of Mt. Pleasant; siblings, Mark (LoriAnne) VanDyke of Blacksburg, VA; and Becky (Robert) Getchell, Loretta (Bill) Moran, and David (Marlene) VanDyke, all of Mt. Pleasant; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Jim) Requea of Rogers, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne VanDyke; brother, Phillip VanDyke; parents-in-law, Lynn and Leda Parnell; and two sisters-in-law, Joann Byrns and Michelle Parnell.
