Kathleen Marie Mcnerney

Kathleen McNerney, 86, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. A Funeral Mass for Kathleen will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon following at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7:30 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics or Sacred Heart Parish. Envelopes will be available at the church or funeral home. Kathleen was born February 4, 1932, in Lake, Michigan, daughter of the late Marion Alvin and Anna (Oman) Wells. A graduate of Farwell High School in 1950, she married Richard McNerney on June 6, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was an avid and accomplished dancer attending dances at the Moose Lodge in Harrison where she was a popular and sought after dance partner. Kathleen volunteered for numerous organizations including the Ladies Auxiliary at McLaren Central Michigan and the luncheon committee at Sacred Heart Parish of which she was a member. A great supporter of Sacred Heart Academy, Kathleen often attended both home and away games of many sporting events, especially the basketball teams. Being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was her greatest joy. She will be greatly missed. Kathleen is survived by six children, Patrick (Betty) McNerney of Holt, Michelle McNerney of Norwalk, CT, Carla McNerney of Mt. Pleasant, Dana (David) Lawrence of Lansing, Kathy Andres of Overland Park, KS, and Jennifer (Rick) Elkow of Commerce; 12 grandchildren, Brendan McNerney and Katelyn McNerney, Christopher Holmes and Rachel Holmes, Jessica (Paul) Wiles, Jessica (Sam) Preville, and Jordan (Nicky) Perakes, Collin Andres and Claire Andres, Hayden Elkow, Griffin Elkow, and Madelin Elkow; four great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Nicholas, Hudson, and Sophie; brother-in-law, Jay Reid of Harrison; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Dick McNerney in 1998; and her sister, Madeline Reid.
