Kathleen M. Peters, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 22, 2005 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born in North Bradley, Michigan on July 3, 1914 and was married in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan in 1936 to Coleman C. Peters who passed away in 1971. Kathleen graduated from the Mt. Pleasant High School in 1933 and went on to study Art at the Mt. Pleasant Normal School (Central Michigan University). Kathleen, along with her husband, Coleman owned the Campbell Building, then, the tallest building in Mt. Pleasant, which housed Apartment Homes within the five floors along with the Giant Super Market on the main floor. Later, Peters Radio and Television moved up to the main floor. In the late 50s Kathleen and Coleman changed careers after earning their Real Estate licenses. Together they brokered Peters Real Estate from 1958 through Kathleens retirement. Kathleen was proud that she maintained her brokers license, keeping her continuing education current each year until her death. Kathleen was a member of Strickland Baptist Church. She was a Wife, a Mother and a Friend to many. She will be dearly missed by her six children, Doug (Darlene) Peters of Colorado Springs, Colorado, John (Leslie) Peters of San Diego, California, Marilyn Blodgett of Orange, California, David (Sharon) Peters of Muskegon, Susan (Martin) Doorn of Port Huron, and Steve (Sherrie) Peters of Rudyard; 20 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Kathleen spent her summers on Lake Michigan at the Familys Summer Home where their children were raised at Maranatha Bible Conference in Muskegon. She is also survived by three sisters, Rosalee (Max) Yeley of Billings, Montana; Jeanne (Vernon) Perry of Westminster, Colorado, Mary Jo (Mark) Harvey of Flora, Illinois; and two brothers, William (Donna) Childs of Spokane, Washington and Gerald (Gail) Childs of Ludington. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Minnie Childs; one sister, Harriet Johnston; and one brother, Mac Childs. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, January 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 28 at Strickland Baptist Church (10023 S. Green Rd., Shepherd) with Pastor Lindow Koop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens, Mt. Pleasant.
