Keith W. Schumacher, 74, of Beal City died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Tendercare in Clare. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father John Cotter presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lux Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph The Worker School. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Keith was born July 30, 1930 in Nottawa Township, the son of John and Helen (Zeien) Schumacher. He graduated from Beal City High School in 1950. During school Keith played football and won a state championship in track. He furthered his education by taking an agricultural course through Michigan State University. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, he returned home and married Patricia Bierschbach July 31, 1954. Over the years he worked various jobs including running a mobile feed grinder, construction work, and driving a school bus for 32 years. But his main passion was farming where he raised hogs and cash crops. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards. Keith is survived by his wife, Pat of Beal City; two sons, Dennis (Genevieve) Schumacher and Dean (Sue Hastings) Schumacher, both of Beal City; four grandchildren, Darrik Schumacher and Breanna, Kyle and Trevor Hastings; three brothers, Marvin (Florence) Schumacher of Rosebush, Donald (Gerry) Schumacher of Beal City and Harley (Kathryn) Schumacher of Grand Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
