Kenneth Massey, 58, of Beal City, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014, at his home. A Funeral Mass for Ken will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 14, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner presiding. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or to St. Joseph the Worker Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Lux Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Ken was born June 16, 1956, in Isabella County, son of Royal and Marie (Smith) Massey. He married Lynn (Robinson) Schafer on May 6, 1988 in Mt. Pleasant. He was a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He served seven years active duty and another 14 years with the Michigan Air National Guard at Selfridge ANG Base. From 1984-2010 he was employed by the City of Mt. Pleasant, retiring as a water system operator. In 2010 he began working for the Isabella County Transportation Commission. He was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish serving as a lector and usher. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus council 3651. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, carpentry work, and being on the water. But most important to Ken was spending time with his loving family. Ken is survived by his wife, Lynn of Beal City; three children Joseph (Nicole) Massey of Marysville, CA, Nicole Massey of Beal City, and Sean Massey of Beal City; two grandchildren, Ayden and Persephany; his mother, Marie Massey of Mt. Pleasant; seven siblings, Dave (Delight) Massey of Shepherd, Vicki (Chris) Barrett of Houston, TX, Mike (Sally) Massey of Blanchard, Kevin Massey of Deland, FL, Randy Massey of Blanchard, Sandy Winnie of Mt. Pleasant, and Gayle (Jon) Beadle of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Royal; and niece Kellie Wheeler.
