Kenneth O. Skelton, 74, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor John Boley of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Ken was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Lamberton, Minn., on the family farm, the son of Orland and Phyllis (DuFrene) Skelton. He married Ruth Murphy on April 16, 1954 at St. Thomas College Chapel in St. Paul, Minn. He received his masters degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota. He was employed by Central Michigan Community Mental Health from 1970-1997, retiring as the Psychologist Program Director. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and was a member of the American Legion. He has belonged to the Mt. Pleasant Country Club since 1972, where he was fortunate enough to record two holes-in-one. Some of his favorite pastimes were golfing, reading, and crossword puzzles. Ken is survived by six children, Laura (Stephen) Hudock of Cincinnati, OH, John (Cindy) Skelton of Andover, Minn., Paul (Carolyn) Skelton of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Mark Skelton of Mt. Pleasant, Julia (Clayton) Russell of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Jeremy Skelton of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Arvonne (Donald) Fraser and Bonnie Skelton, both of Minneapolis, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 2002; one sister, Marilyn Flaig; and his brother, Grant Skelton.
