Ken Starr, 62, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006 in an automobile accident. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the charity of the donors choice. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Ken was born Sept. 12, 1943 in Hamtramck, the son of John and Julia (Brzozowski) Starzynski. He has been a resident of Mt. Pleasant since 1972 where he had attended Sacred Heart Church and had served as a eucharistic minister. Ken graduated from Ferris State University with a BA in Marketing and Advertising. Most recently, Ken was employed as a sales rep. for ABC Warehouse for over 10 years. In prior years he owned and operated marketing businesses. On his creative side Ken was instrumental in the production of wildlife films featuring the likes of Lance Parrish, Mike Schmidt, Ted Nugent, Fred Bear, and Robert Stack. Creativity was his passion, having patented several inventions. He had endless ideas and continued to think up new ideas until the day he died. Many who knew him could appreciate his wonderful sense of humor. He was an avid sports fan of the Tigers and Red Wings, and participated in golfing, fishing and softball having played in a game in May of this year. While sports were a big part of his life, nothing was as important to him as his children. He leaves behind his two children, Justin (Melanie) Starr of Lakewood, CO and Jodi Starr of Shepherd and their mother, Jane Starr of Lake;a brother, James (Nancy) Starr of Louisville, KY; and many friends who were dear to him. He was preceded in death by his parents.
