Kevin P. Goffnett, 53, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes as celebrant. Immediately following, his ashes will be buried in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon concluding at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the church or funeral home. Kevin was born October 28, 1963, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Robert C. and Mabel P. (Angle) Goffnett. A 1982 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Kevin was employed by the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort. He loved his music and movies. Kevin is survived by seven siblings, Robert (Marge) Goffnett and Marilyn (Roland) Trayer, both of Mt. Pleasant, Bill (Sherry) Goffnett of Coleman, Rose (Fred) DuBois, Beverly (Mike) Vance, and Greg (Marie Annie) Goffnett all of Mt. Pleasant, and Karen (Chris) Brown of Yakima, WA; two brothers-in-law, Larry Machuta of Mt. Pleasant and Rich Wojciechowicz of Sterling Heights; sister-in-law, Emily (Bruce) Powers of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (2006) and Mabel (1982); two sisters, Sharon Machuta (2006) and Denise Wojciechowicz (2008); brother, Dave Goffnett (2008); nephew, Jeremy Sponseller (2007); and step-nephew, Frank DuBois (2016).
