Kevin Steffke, aged 60, of Beal City, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at Woodland Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 15, 1964, in Isabella County, Kevin was the eighth of eleven children to his loving parents Frederick and Florence (Grinzinger) Steffke. He was a beloved brother to his elder siblings Kenneth, William, Kathy, Judith, Denise, Stephen, and Michael, and his younger siblings Joseph, Mark, and Christian.
Kevin graduated from Sunnyfield School, where he was an enthusiastic basketball player for the Sunnyfield Stars. He was an active participant in the Special Olympics and enjoyed bowling with friends. Kevin worked briefly at Mid Michigan Industries and was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers, celebrating their 1984 World Series victory with great joy. He found happiness in riding his three-wheeled bike and listening to The Beatles vinyl records.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Fred and Florence Steffke, and his ten siblings, Ken Steffke, Bill 'Wink' (Michelle) Steffke, Kathy (Leon) Cotter, Judi Steffke, Denise (Rich) Griggs, Steve Steffke, Mike (Barb) Steffke, Joe (Jill) Steffke, Mark (Amy) Steffke, and Chris (Natalie) Steffke, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant sister Mary, sister-in-law Elizabeth 'Beth' Steffke, and nephew Ivan Steffke Aney.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Kevin's honor at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, with Father Andy LaFramboise presiding. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, and a luncheon will be held at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. Family and friends are invited to gather in the church's gathering room on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, one hour prior to the Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church, Special Olympics of Michigan, or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home.
