Kevin VanAlstine, 38, of Shepherd, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 6, 2018. A memorial service for Kevin will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday, February 12, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. A dinner will immediately follow at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home). The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Kevin was born July 19, 1979, in Alma, Michigan, son of Alvin and Pamela (Bullard) VanAlstine. A 1998 graduate of Shepherd High School, Kevin was employed by All Seasons Builders. Some of his favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing with his sons, and spending time with his daughter. Kevin is survived by three sons, Tucker, Easton, and Wyatt VanAlstine (with his former wife, Melissa VanAlstine) and daughter, Mylah VanAlstine (with his significant other, Cory Ann Hagen); his parents, Alvin and Pamela VanAlstine of St. Louis; two brothers, Scott (Mindy) VanAlstine of Mt. Pleasant and Troy (Andrea) VanAlstine of Elwell; paternal grandmother, Margaret VanAlstine of Williamston; maternal grandfather, Larry Bullard of Shepherd; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Donna Bullard; paternal grandfather, Gerald VanAlstine; uncle, Donald Bullard; and aunt, Karen Hoyt.
