Kimberly Hovey, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 14, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on June 10, 1958, in Isabella County, she was the cherished daughter of Maxie C. and Joyce H. (Cleveland) Haggart. Kimberly attended Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1976. She married the love of her life, John P. Hovey, on March 14, 1975, at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Rosebush, and they shared 50 wonderful years together.
Throughout her life, Kimberly worked in various roles, including as a waitress at the White Wagon and at the Texan restaurant, in the deli department at Meijer, as a student teacher in computers at Mt. Pleasant Middle School, for George Sponseller at SDS Energy Systems, and finally at Home Depot. She was known for her many hobbies, including quilting, knitting, crocheting, working with stained glass, and gardening. An excellent baker, Kimberly was especially famous for her pies and zucchini bread. She was also a devoted pet lover.
Kimberly is survived by her loving husband, John; her daughters, Cynthia Hovey, Cristina (Kyle) Moeggenberg, and Leslie Hovey, all residing in Rosebush; seven grandchildren (Tre, Abigayle, Gavin, Madison, Cailyn, Alexander, and Gabriel); one great-grandchild (Ada) and another on the way; her mother, Joyce Haggart; her siblings, Maxine (Robert) Dick of Grand Ledge and Brian Haggart of Rosebush; and her in-laws, Rick Hovey (Mary Gill), Leah (Drew) Dysinger, Mark Hovey, Lisa (Brooks) Loflyn, and Jeff (Maggie) Hovey.
She was predeceased by her father, Maxie, her siblings, Gary Haggart and Cynthia Haggart, and her brother-in-law, David Hovey.
Kim's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Celebrant Michelle Sponseller officiating. She will be laid to rest in St. Henry Cemetery in Rosebush, concluding with a luncheon at St. Henry Center. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday one hour before the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wishes of the Family, Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
